Banwiang Guesthouse, on a quiet street inside Chiang Mai moat and near to Thapae Gate, has a variety of rooms - For 250/300 Baht (single/double), you can get a fan room - for 400 baht a night, a double room with fridge and cable TV....Air-conditioned rooms costs 500/600/700 baht a night.

If you can stay for a month, you get great deals. Normally an apartment in Chiang Mai requires signing a contract for at least 6 months but here, you can stay for between 3000 baht a month (just 3 American dollars a night!) for a single room with fan, to 8000 Baht (still only about 8 American dollars nightly) for the luxurious looking room pictured above. Quite a deal huh! Wifi in the rooms for a month will cost an extra 400 baht.
