Hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand - East Of Chiang Mai Moat, towards the River Ping. Some of the hotels below are on quiet streets but many are on Chiang Mai's busier streets. However, many of the hotels rise up high in the sky so noise issues might not actually be relevant! I've found that the more expensive the hotel is (some of the hotels below are very expensive), the more likely the room prices are to change so check their individual websites to see the most up to date price.

4) Montrara Happy House - On a quiet street. Suite rooms costing about 2,000 baht a night look nice. Standard rooms costing about 1,000 baht seem a bit small for the price. 8) Amora Hotel - Dominates the skyline near to Tha Pae Gate, so very centrally located. I like the style of the hotel and when I first came to Chiang Mai, it was a useful landmark when I got lost! 204 rooms. Rooms are priced between about 1,500 and 4,000 Thai baht per night. 10) The Imperial Mae Ping Hotel - Absolutely HUGE hotel! 371 rooms ranging in price from 2,500 baht a night to 45,000 Baht a night (45 thousand baht - I didn't add a 0 by mistake!) 22) Star Hotel - Another large hotel very close to the night market. Like CH Hotel, the rooms seem nice and reasonably priced between 1,300 and 1,500 per night. 23) Ketawa Hotel - On a very quiet road. Stylish, modern hotel with 13 nicely decorated rooms priced at about 2,500 baht per night. 25) Pornping Tower - A Huge hotel that towers in the sky. Close to the night bazaar. Rooms cost between about 1,200 baht per night to about 15,000 baht per night. 26) Imm Hotel - Newly opened in July, 2009, this great looking, wooden style hotel is right in the center of the city, near to Tha Pae Gate. 29) Diamond Riverside Hotel - Very large hotel next to the river and near the night bazaar. Rooms cost between about 800 baht a night to about 1,700 baht per night. They don't seem to have their own website - do a google search to find more information. Address: 33/10 Charoen Prathet Rd.

30) Riverside House B & B - Just across the river, a walk over the iron bridge and you can be in the center of Chiang Mai in 5 minutes. On quite a busy road. 31) River View Lodge - Next to the river, on a quiet road, yet very close to the night bazaar. Nice looking rooms priced between 1,800 and 2,800 baht a night. 32) Chedi Hotel - Grand looking, modern hotel on the riverfront that seems to get good reviews. I didn't visit the hotel myself. On Bumruang Rat 1 Road, the next road past Puripunn Baby Grand Boutique Hotel (number 24 on my hotel list above) is the Disabilities Creative Handicraft Center.

Next to Ketawa Hotel (number 23 on my hotel list above) is a tasty looking pizza restaurant with pizzas between about 125 baht and 240 baht.

On Chiang Moi Kao Road, a little bit further north past Kung Fu Chiang Mai is Lanna Thai Massage School (opens in new window).

In Anusarn Market, there are many kinds of international restaurants, including Arabic and Pakistani food.

The Church by the river is called the Chiang Mai First Church - English language Bible study between 10:30am and 11:30 am (English language service between, I think, 9:30am and 10:30 am) It might be an idea to ring them to double-check the times: +66 (0)53 243072.

The Thai Boxing, along Loi Kroh Road, is open from 9:15pm to 12 pm. Tickets priced at 400/600 baht Tel: 08 98526947. Next to the Thai Boxing, on Loi Kroh Road, is Night Bazaar Books.

The Japanese restaurant by the river has the name The Gigantea.

Continue north along Charoen Rat Road to find a newly opened Korean Guesthouse on the right hand side. I'll update with the price next time I'm in Chiang Mai.

The Italian Food place on Chang Moi Kao Road, near to Tha Pae Road, is a pizza restaurant with the name: Pulcinella da Restorante Stefano Italiano.

Opposite Ketawa hotel on Bumruang Rat 2 is a Lisu Hill Tribe Church named the Chiangmai Christian Church.

Heading south from Amora hotel (number 8 on my list above) along Chaiaphum Road, on your left, you'll find Daret's House, a very popular restaurant for foreigners, a place to sit and people watch. A bit further down on the left is Tha Pae Gate Books.
