Wanasit Guesthouse - A friendly Guethouse in the heart of Chiang Mai
Wanasit Guesthouse is one of the oldest hotels in Chiang Mai - it's been open since 1978. Noom (pictured below in his Manchester City shirt) was a jolly man who made me feel welcome there as did his Mother. It's on a very quiet street away from most other guesthouses so it does have a peaceful, less frenetic feel to it than some of the more busy hostels.
Rooms cost 200/250 (one person/2 people) baht a night for a fan room. Air conditioned rooms will cost 300/400 baht per night (1/2 people).
All rooms have TV and private hot shower bathroom. There's wifi internet downstairs if you have a laptop. There's breakfast available for 100 baht all day. There's also a small cooking school here costing 1,000 baht to learn to cook 7 dishes (and eat the dishes!).
There's a great view of Doi Suthep mountain from the large balcony area upstairs. The homestay is also very close to Wat Phra Singh with its famous murals.
You can also stay monthly here for a good price (about 3,000 baht for a fan room - contact them for more details on this)
